POSTED 7/2/2020
Peetz Plateau School District is planning to return to in-person instruction for the 2020-21 School year. In order to achieve this goal of returning, changes to our routines will be unavoidable. The health of our staff, students, and their families are paramount to our district and safety protocols will be in place at the beginning of the school year and continue until further direction from state and local officials change. The following is a brief overview of the projected changes to the upcoming school year:
Required daily health screening for students and staff
Health check areas will be designated for drop off of students
Drop off times for students will need to be strictly adhered to
Staff will be required to wear masks while interacting with students
At this point, masks will be optional for students BUT recommended
Limited student movement throughout the building
Staggered releases from classes, etc
Social distancing both in the classroom and out will be adhered to while in session
Visitor access will be limited
Closed campus (students will not be permitted to leave campus for lunch)
Staggered lunch periods
Schedule changes at both Elementary and Secondary Level
Rotating Block Schedule at the secondary level
Green days - Wednesday/ Friday
Gold Days - Tuesday/ Thursday
Mondays - Potential rotation of teachers to classrooms
Elementary changes
Tech and Music will rotate days with no combining of classes
Pod groups will be developed to limit cross contamination for recesses and lunch
No morning recess to provide time for health checks
Bussing
We are working on a plan to continue providing transportation as we realize the need in our rural community.
As of today (July 2, 2020) we plan on bussing students
Health Safety procedures for the bus driver and students will be in place
Health screenings will be performed prior to students getting on the bus
Parents are encouraged to remain at the bus stop until children are cleared to ride
The staff here at Peetz recognizes the difficulty that many of these changes will cause families and students as we implement our plan to return to school. Please realize that many of our changes moving forward to in-person instruction are dictated above the district level. We feel strongly that we can continue to provide the academic rigor your child(ren) deserve and meet the guidelines and executive orders placed upon us by implementing these changes.
It is essential that we all understand that these plans may change at anytime based upon the ever developing circumstances presented by the COVID-19 virus. We will do our part in informing you of these changes in a timely manner.
